The river Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR): This agency manages State conservation related facilities and programs. Contact them concerning most State Parks, Fish & Game issues, Environmental Regulation/Hazards. (515-281-5918).
INFORMATION
The Madison County Conservation Board is often confused with other Conservation related organizations. The following organizations may have similar titles and at times similar services, but are still different in scope of what they provide the public.
WE WILL PROVIDE ADVISE AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO HANDLE THESE SITUATIONS AND/OR WHO TO CONTACT FOR PROPER ASSISTANCE.

WE DO NOT PROVIDE
  • Not a rendering service. We do not pick up dead animal carcasses.
  • Not an animal control service. We do not capture/trap stray animals.
  • Not a Law Enforcement/Game Wardens. Responsible only for enforcement of rules and regulations within the boundaries of our County Parks.
  • Not sanitation specialists. We do not clean up roadside dump sites or hazardous wastes/spills.
Cross County Sking Natural Resource & Conservation Service (NRCS): This agency is largely in charge of developing plans to implement such programs as CRP, WRP, Buffer Strips, etc. They also provide surveying and cost estimates for terracing and pond construction. (515-462-2961)
Play Ground Farm Service Agency (FSA with the USDA): This agency sets the rules for qualifying for CRP, WRP, etc. as well as crop planning and agricultural management. (515-462-4884).
Tree Hugger County Board of Health/Zoning: This agency addresses such issues as roadside dumping and hazardous wastes as well as permits general construction and septic systems. (515-462-2636).
