MIDDLE RIVER PARK
Middle River County Park
is located 1 mile south of Winterset on County Road P-71 with the entrance
of the park directly across the highway from the Board Operations Center
building. The split-level shelter overlooks the main picnic area with
the upper level (200 person capacity) available for reservations. The
lower level (100 person capacity) is kept open on a first come/first serve
basis. Shelter is surrounded by landscape beds of colorful perennial and
annual plantings.

Pammel Park is located 4 miles southwest of Winterset. Modern camping facilities are located on the Backbone. Directions: From Winterset travel west on State Highway 92 for 1 mile, turn south on County Highway P68 for 3 miles. The Lodge, built in the 1920’s from oak logs harvested from the site, the Lodge with a large limestone fireplace provides a rustic and historic setting for family reunions, weddings, old fashioned Christmas’s and much more. Located on the west side of Middle River, follow signs posted in the park.

Cedar Bridge Park is located 3 miles northeast of Winterset on Cedar Bridge Trail, immediately adjacent to the Winterset City Reservoir and Lake View Country Club. Directions: From Winterset 1/2 miles east on State Highway 92, turn north on Cedar Bridge Trail for 1 3/4 mile (follow County Park signs once turning on to Cedar Bridge Trail). The Gazebo, located on north side of Cedar Creek, is nestled between a group of stately pines and accented with an attached brick patio garden and landscaped with tiered beds of perennial and annual plantings. Handicap accessibility made possible with hand-laid brick walkways.

Fellowship Forest is located approximately 4 miles southwest of Winterset in the southwest quarter of Madison County. Directions: From Winterset travel south on U.S. 169 approximately 1 3/4 miles, turn west on Carver Trail and follow roadside directional signs for 2 1/4 miles.
