LIVE WILD: Getting Started with Bees with Andrew Joseph, long-serving State Apiarist for Iowa
March 3 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
If you’ve ever considered getting a hive or two of honeybees, Spring is the time to do it. We’ll discuss the importance of honeybees as pollinators in addition to honey & other hive products we may glean as beekeepers. We’ll cover some basics of bee biology & behavior, which really is what makes beekeeping such a fascinating hobby. We’ll discuss the role of the beekeeper through the year, as well as time commitment to be expected, what equipment is needed to get started, and where to get it. Warning: Once you put your head in a bee box, it never comes back out.
Free and Open to the Public. Free Will Donation to be split equally between Madison County Foundation for Environmental Education and a conservation organization of the speaker’s choice.
